Ella's big week

So she started Kindergarten this week...

Monday: I think she was so excited to go to school, she nearly wet her pants.
Tuesday: She was so heartbroken to leave school, she broke down in tears.
Wednesday: I already got the first "But Daaaaaad... I'm so tired. Just let me go back to sleep."
Thursday: Her first incident report. Just a bandaid after falling off the monkey bars. Which she has been trying every day to cross successfully. But her "hands just aren't strong enough."
Friday: "Do I haaave to go to school today?" Already?

And Friday afternoon, after attempting several times (unsuccessfully) over the past year, out of the blue she pulled this off...

Ready...
Set...

Go!!!

I think something must have just finally clicked. We've tried every method. Dad running behind like a hunchback. The pole behind the seat so I can help her balance. The "I'll tip you and you turn in the direction you are falling." The remove the pedals and let her push around with her feet. All of the above have usually resulted in tears, whining, and frustration.

Tonight, we did all of the above... again. But a few runs through the grass later, and she was suddenly going 10 feet at a time by herself. Then she insisted that she wanted to go up on the cement, and before we knew it she was a pedaling fool.

Granted, she is riding her brother's itty bitty bike, since her feet can touch the ground, but we'll work up to her big pink bike.

I didn't even bring the camera and had to run home and get it, such was my confidence that there would be anything worthwhile to document...

She was awfully proud of herself. As were mom and dad. But mostly we just stood there in shock that she just rode around like it was no big deal.

She's get'n all grow'd up! (sniff sniff)

that is how Gracie learned how to ride her bike. we were killing our backs trying to run behind her. we just lowered the seat so her feet could touch the ground and it didn't take her long at all. I agree, it's so sad to see them grow up.

Yay Ella!!!!!!!!! I still have a tough time riding a bike, but I prefer if they have a motor on them...and four doors...and four tires...wait, I guess I just prefer cars.
